the mind is designed to focus on the negative side of a situation regardless of whether that is the most rational way to view it; it is designed this way so that we must recognize it as an obstacle and work to overcome it. most people dont see this and take their emotions and resulting actions at face value. as a result most people are largely acting off negative emotions, which is the biggest mistake a person can make. once you do this a chain reaction is set off immediately. let me give an example: say a girl is very attractive and has low self etseem. naturally, ill-intentioned guys will use her and take advantage of her, she;''ll cling to him, thinking she wouldnt be able to do better, they'll have a kid, the dad'll beat the kid up, the kid starts doing drugs to cope, next thing you know the kid starts robbing people, the guy he robbede tries to strangle him, that guys goes to jail, now some other kid doesnt have a father, which will set off a whole new cycle. if someone had instilled into the girl that she was better than that, none of this would have hahappened. and so what i propose is that we begin looking at the root of the world's major problems and eliminate them one by one.
first off, the entire news media needs to be restructured to be more natural and human. as it is, it is cold, stitled, and grim. the idea behind the current approach is to be objective and not let personal opinion enter in. this is a mistake. an "objective" report on, say, a death of a young man as the result of a drunk driver is unsettling. if the anchors simply added in some personal insight, perhaps about how the same happened to the son of a friend of their's, say what a shame it is, and then maybe tell a funny story about something that kid did when he was growing up, and then briefly talk about how further similar incidents could be avoided. instead of assuming the same monotone voice, let the anchors' true personalities and senses of humor shine through. have them injerject anecdotes and comments about their personal lives; nothing too personal, just enough to make the viwer feel they can relate to the person more. get rid of the overly-formal attire and sets and maybe even have each reporter do the report from their own home, with a bowl of cereal sitting on the table and a baby crying in the background. on second thought, scratch the crying baby part. the viewer of the morning news broadcast likely is dealing with a screaming baby of their own at that very moment, and an additional screamer might reduce them to a state of temporary psycbosis.that's not quite the effect we're going for, seeing as how the current format does that the way it is.
violent crime. if you asked the average criminal how it it was they felt no remorse for the heinous crimes they'd comitted, a large percentage of them woulod say "well, they don't give a damn about me, so why shouold i care about them?" what commonly happens is this: a kid grows up in a rough neighborhood, is forced to put on the facade of a hardened thug in oirder to not be the smallest fish in the seea, and avoid getting taken for a ride by other criminals in the area. people, not undertsnading the idnivividual is acting this way simply out of neccessity, to protect themselves, writes the person off, thus alienating the individual beyond the level which he is likely to feel alienated. we need to get out there and tell people that they don't have to fall victim to the kind of fates of those around them, they don't have to be crackheads or criminals, they can escape it with the right level of support and encouragement. if we show compassion and understanding we can help these people to feel better about themselves and the world around them, and get them to lead more productive lives. i plan to start giving talks at pirsons, treatment homes, etc. telling kids that i myself have been through similar cirumstances and that there is a way out and that there is hope nfor them if they are willing to make some simple changes within themselves.
an overall divide between people who belong to different sects and who come from different backgrounds. we need to stop looking at people as rednecks, yuppies, hipsters, etc. and instead expose ourself to people of different backgrounds and learn from them, because everyone is fundamentally the same and deep down seeks only to be respected, to be undertsood, and to be appreciated. we need to stop letting the roles we play --- cab drivers, insurance agents, phone operators --- take presidence over having truly human interactions, because ultimately humanity is mpore inmportant than professionalism and the good of a single orginization. if you're, say, sitting ona bus, make an effort to make small talk with someone, and to make them laugh. we have to stop being so wrapped up in our individual lives, situations, and decisions and go out of our way to reach out to those around us. hang out with different kinds of people, hang out in different neighborhoods, learn from people of different ethnicities rather than shunning them.
the overall sterile feeling of everyday life. this could be solved simply by publicly encouraging belief in self and individuality. we need to stop worrying if our jeans are in season, if our cars fit the current look, let loose, and have more fun. we need to let girls know they don't have to be 100lbs and have bleach blonde hair; we need to let guys know they dont need to be tough guys and work out, etc. to fit in. we need to lift all this pressure off ourselves and simply be who we are. don't just wear black/white/grey, wear birhgt colors! dont let the era define you, define yourself and maybe you could redfine the era entirely!
all the art-forms are in a rut. we need to assess all the artistic work recorded thus far and develop new methods and approaches. what happens is that people are only exposed to what comes out during their lifetimes. what this does is waste the potentional that could be met; they could have heard something older, more academic, foreign and had a creative revelation. i feel ive done enough research that i could revolutionize music, literature, film, and stand-up comedy. i realize that's a bold claim but im confident i can do it. sorry these paragraphs are so short. carpel tunnel. too many lonely nights, you know? exxciting, involving art can touch and motivate people when they feel there is little else in their life that is any good. it would also motivate other artists to try harder. again, individuailty needs to be valued far more than it is. we need to get all this robot music off the air. the robotic feeling comes from the sterile cold feeling the world projects, but this music is just perpetuating the problem, making it far colder and less human.
i, along with a group of associates, are confident we can make these changes. i'd really appreciate it if someone would respond. i have a lot of other theories that i think are equally as crucial as the ones listed above.
thank you for your time,
